Governors Club offers many of the amenities of city life in a peaceful, serene environment.
Built around a 27-hole championship Jack Nicklaus signature golf course, which rest on Edwards Mountain. The community was developed with respect for the area's natural features--woods, rocks, and mountains, to enhance nature's beauty. Yet, the only Mobil five-star restaurant in the southeast, Fearington House, is less than 20 minutes away. Chapel Hill, a fifteen minute drive, is home to the University of North Carolina. Durham, a 20 minute drive, is home to Duke. A myraid of cultural activities are offered throughout the area.. Season tickets to the numerous plays, ballets, concerts and sporting events are held by many Governors Club residents. World renowned medical facilities are close at hand as well as an international airport 25 minutes away.
Residents have the option of participating in golf, swimming (indoor and outdoor pools), tennis, fitness center activities, and numerous activities for our many children.
Book clubs, bridge groups, Bible study groups, the Garden Club, Budding Artist, Cooking Club and other special interest groups are also available. All, of course, are optional as many residents are still employed. Volunteers have ample opportunities to give to the larger community through Habitat for Humanity, Adopt a Highway, United Way, Hospice, Blood Drives and tutoring programs.
My family only regrets we didn't find Governors Club five years earlier.
